This is Part 2 of my CRED Product analysis series. Find Part 1 Here: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/cred-rewarding-you-paying-credit-card-bills-product-arun-philips/

When I joined CRED in Dec 2018, CRED points had INCREDIBLE value, sometimes around 0.2 INR per point. That’s a 20,000 INR reward for a spend of 1,00,000. (20%)

CRED Values as of Dec 4, 2018

A year and some later, how does the value of these points hold up? Let’s take a look.

First off, there are a few assumptions I’ve made before starting off with this analysis.

1) Only rewards available in Bangalore are analyzed.

2) Average Price of a Coffee is 200 INR. (Please don’t charge more than that :P)

3) Fine Dining offers are excluded since Dineout/EazyDiner etc. offer these discounts regularly.

4) For offers with multiple tiers of Coin Burn, we have used the lowest tier for calculations.

5) Mystery Box cannot technically be valued, they could theoretically have the highest value, but we’ve used the minimum reward for calculation.

With that, let’s dive into the analysis! As of February, the Top 5 Offers that provide you with the most value for your CRED coins are:

1. Home Centre: Buying a Modular Kitchen from Home Centre gives you a 50,000 INR discount at a CRED value of 0.167 INR. Guess it’s time for some Kitchen Shopping?

2. Kosmoderma: A set of Laser Hair Reduction/Skin Softening Sessions at Kosmoderma for a discount of 10,000 INR at a CRED value of 0.167 INR. Laser your worries away!

3. Zweat: Get comfortable gym clothes for your calorie sessions for a discount of 1,000 INR at a CRED value of 0.1 INR.

4. Hype: Spend a day with an upgrade to some fancy wheels for a discount of 5,000 INR at a CRED value of 0.1 INR.

5. Flo Mattress: Get a comfortable night’s sleep with a discount of 4,000 INR at a CRED value of ~0.1 INR.

What are the offers that provide the least value? The 5 Offers that offer you with the least value for your CRED coins are:

1. Amaara Herbs: Buying herbal tea from Amaara Herbs gets you a 250 INR discount at a CRED value of 0.00375 INR.

2. Amante: Buy Intimate Wear at a discount of 500 INR at a CRED value of 0.005 INR.

3. Puma: Get your sportswear at a discount of 600 INR at a CRED value of 0.005 INR.

You can find the full list over here: credvalues.co

Key Takeaways:

  1. Many Products increase their official Selling Price if you redeem CRED points to purchase them.
  2. You lose out on existing promotions when applying CRED codes in some cases.
  3. Electronics Offers generally retail much cheaper on Amazon, Flipkart, etc. than their official websites (where CRED points are burned)
  4. Some products have additional shipping charges which reduce Coin Value.
  5. Some companies bundle products for a CRED exclusive, which are actually sometimes more expensive than buying them separately.

Some Feedback:

  1. Some products are miscategorized, and similar products are placed in two different categories.
  2. Remove deceiving offers that markup the price for CRED redemptions, and try to have the selling price as per market prices.

Thanks for reading! Keep checking credvalues.co to know the value of your points, and do let me know if there are any flaws in the economics.
